OCC Challenge - It's All About The Sentiment!

Good morning fellow stampers! I'm coming to you from Semans, SK, visiting my parents right now! It's Saturday and that means it's challenge time over at Our Creative Corner! This week we are to use a sentiment as our focal point! I'm pretty sure I read something AFTER I made my card about using ribbon and then I noticed that the other samples from the DT ALL had ribbon on theirs! Soooo...bonus points for using ribbon this week?!?! lol

I used one of the awesome sentiments from Unity Stamps Co! They were the first to come to mind when I saw this challenge! I recieved some of the yummy To The Nines Specialty paper from SU and my Birds and Blooms die! I stamped the sentiment with Chocolate Chip craft ink and embossed with clear ep. The edges are sponged with Choc. Chip ink and I used copper brads for accents!

There are some fabulous samples from the team over on the OCC Blog so be sure to go have a peak! You will also find the links to all their awesome blogs!

On a personal note....I am so happy to be in Saskatchewan! If you've never been there, it has the most amazing sunsets, the duck and bird population is AMAZING, and although the 'flatness' is something so many make fun of...it is truly PHENOMENAL!! I am originally from Vancouver Island which, in my opinion, is one of Canada's best playgrounds and is truly a beautiful piece of heaven on earth!! Saskatchewan is equally beautiful, just in a different way! And.....for those of you who don't know....Semans is also the home of Cindy Haffner! I'm hoping to meet up with her while I'm here...how exciting will that be?!?!?!?

Thanks so much for stopping in today and I hope to see some of your creations inspired by today's OCC challenge! Have a great weekend!

MFT Idol Judges Entry Week 10

The contestants and judges for the MFT Idol contest were challenged to make Creative Packaging! You can read more about it on the MFT Forum! It took me FOREVER to decide on what kind of packaging I was going to use and then I FINALLY decided on these cute little strawberries that are the perfect size for Kisses and Campinos!

If you haven't seen or made these Strawberries before, here is a template from Paperscrapz so that you can try them yourself!! They are fun, easy and eye-catching! I use the Swiss Dots EF on the 'berry' and Divine Swirls on the 'leaf'! I also punch TWO holes in the leaf center so I can thread the ribbon through. I think the template only shows one hole.

The basket that I put the strawberries in is one of the simplest ones that I've done!! There are tutorials all over Splitcoast for them and I couldn't tell you who I saw that did it first, BUT if you haven't seen one, here are the basics:

-start with a 6x6 piece of card stock-score at 2'' and 4'' both way (so you end up with a total of 9 squares

-cut the 2 score lines on one side up 2'' and then do the same on the opposite side

-fold up each end towards the center and adhere or fasten with a brad

Clear as mud?!?! If it seems complicated, just follow the first few directions anyway and you will see how easy it is!!!;)

I went with the How Sweet It Is WTG set and I finally used my Peerless Watercolors to color the image in! Could use a little more practice with those though! The flowers are from the Birds and Blooms Sizzlets from SU! and the dp is Rockabilly Specialty.

I guess that's about it for details but if I've forgotten anything, feel free to post your question in the comments section.

It's going to be a DOUBLE ELIMINATION this week for our Final Four Contestants, (20something, Little Sea Otter, Mrs. Mac, and Bar), as we had some voting complications last week. You can read the deets here as well as find a link to the new Voting 'Booth'! We're down to the nitty gritty...only one more challenge after this one!

Thanks for stopping by for a little Stamps 'n' Coffee!!

OCC Color Challenge!

It's Saturday and that means it's time to play along with Our Creative Corner!! This week we're doing a color challenge with Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Whisper White!
Jennifer Meyer of Stamps and Smiles is offering up a $20 Gift Certificate from her store to one lucky winner AGAIN this week!! Just make sure that you post a link to your creation on the OCC Blog!

I got this sweet little Cupcake set from There She Goes a while back and I thought they would be perfect for these colors! I used Versamark and clear embossing powder to stamp the images! The Whisper White panel is embossed with the Divine Swirls CB EF and I used some of my long-hoarded Celery Prints paper for the bg! The scalloped edges are from a new punch I got from EK Success...they have some really groovy new punches out...LOVE 'em!!

Well, I guess that's it! Today is my 'baby's' 5th Birthday so I'm going to be spending all day celebrating with him and our family!! We got him a new soccer ball and net so I'm pretty sure I see a game in the near future!! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing what gorgeous creations you all come up with!!

Thanks so much for stoppin' by!!

Surprise Release From Hanna Stamps and The Friday Challenge

Happy Friday! It's the long weekend here in Canada and the official 'kick-off' for the camping season which almost always guarantees bad weather!! Lol!! However the sun is shining beautifully through my window right now!!

A few days ago, Kristi from Hanna Stamps surprised us with some new releases...a Grad Riley, and a Grad Hanna set! Here are a few samples!

This is Anthony...he's actually a pretty staight-laced guy most of the time, but he felt like lettin' loose a little for his Graduation!
(the truth of the matter is I messed up when coloring his face/eyes, so I took the sunglasses from the To The Beach set to cover up my OOPS!)
I colored this with Prismas and baby oil and the sentiment is from SU!
Anthony is also paired with a Graduating Hanna in this set as well as a few awesome accessories and a CONGRATULATIONS sentiment! It's available right now at the Hanna Stamps store!

Here is the new Grad Riley! Isn't he FAB?!?! I used the Mondo Thinker sentiment form the Read My Tee Hanna set! The little diplomas are just rolled up pieces of cardstock tied with ribbon! He is also colored with Prismas and baby oil!

And now for Friday's Hanna Challenge!

Candice has challenged us to make a One Layer Card!! I actually don't mind making these as once you have your idea it 'can' go very quickly!! However the drawback to the one-layer-wonders is there is absolutely ZERO room for error! (there is no way I could've rescued my Grad Anthony had THAT been a one layer card!)
You can find Candice's challenge here!

I used the beautiful bouquet from the Retro release of the Bridal Hanna Set! To create a 'framed border' I simply scored some lines with my Scor-Pal! The image is colored with my SU! Markers, and the ribbon is also from SU!!

Thanks so much for stopping my my blog today! I'll be back again tomorrow with my card for the OCC Challenge!

Featured Stamper Challenge

It was so nice to find some time to play in the FS Challenge today!! Debbie aka dbdoodle is the very much deserving Stamper of Honor and although I've seen her work in challenges and such, cruising through her gallery was a FEAST for the eyes!!! GORGEOUS work! You can see for yourself here!

Here is my CASE of here gorgeous card which you can see here!

Changes I made are as follows:
Main image
Circles instead of scallops to make it masculine
Stars instead of scallops on the corner embellies
Paper and jute instead of ribbon

I had to use this new BBQ Riley from Hanna Stamps...he's just so cute! I decided not to add a sentiment so that I can use it for a masculine birthday or Father's Day card!

RecipeStamp - BBQ Riley

Paper - Sarsparilla - CTMH, river rock, Neenah Solar Crest

Ink - Momento

Accessories - coluzzle, nesties, punches, copics, copper brads, jute, cb ef

Congratulations, Debbie...LOVE your gallery! Thank you Beth for yet another fantastic choice! And thanks to all of you who stop in for the occasional visit...you gotta know how much I appreciate it!!

OCC Sketch Challenge

I love Saturday...no alarm clocks and a nice slow pace to start off what will likely end up as a pretty full day!! Not only that, it's time for another challenge over at Our Creative Corner and this week Robin Willis gave us a very cool sketch to play with! If you decide to play along with us today, make sure you link your creation on the OCC blog as Jennifer Meyer is generously giving away another $20 Gift Certificate from Stamps and Smiles! How awesome is that?!

I decided to use this fabulous Sophie from the April Release from Hanna Stamps. I absolutely LOVE this Bittersweet line from Basic Grey and I think Sophie deserves to have the gorgeous paper as her background! The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!. I used my Coluzzle for the ovals as I wanted a few mats and I only have one Nesties Oval set. She needed a little bling as well...don't we all!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Just in case I don't make it back here tomorrow...Happy Mother's Day to all my Mommy friends!!!

Hanna Friday Challenge ~ Sanded!

It's time for another Friday Challenge over in the Hanna Stamps Forum and this week I get to be the hostess!! My challenge is to make a card or project with anything SAND RELATED... so use sand on your card, sand your paper, even a sandy scene...let you're imagination go wild!! Please make sure when you upload on Splitcoast you use Keyword HSC68!

Here is a sample that I made using Core'dinations Paper. I sanded all the edges...such a cool effect with this stuff!! A big thanks to Core'dinations, Kristi and the DT members that were at CHA for getting these samples of paper for us to play with! That cute little image is one of the new releases that you can find at Hanna Stamps...you just gotta check them all out!!

If you scroll down to my previous post you'll see another sample using actual sand on my card!!
